The house before

Moving. Moving is hard. And fun. And hard.
But the kids are settling in. We're slowly getting the house rehabilitated. And this is starting to feel like "home."
Most of these are before pictures. I will take some after pictures when we're a little more done with our projects.
This is the house before we cut down about 20 trees and a lot of bushes. It looks a lot better now!

This is what the family room looked like before we took down the corduroy wallpaper and painted the bookshelves white. And had the floor refinished. It looks a lot better now!

This is the pool. It's closed now. We're already excitedly anticipating opening it in the spring :)

This is the dining room. It still has the wallpaper up. It's on my to-do list!

These are the bookshelves in the living room. I liked the blue, but they didn't work with our furniture, so the back is now white. Though I'm thinking about taking everything down again and painting the back a cream-color. Hmmmm.

The stairs. We've ripped out the carpet, taken down the wallpaper, refinished the stairs and painted the walls. Looks much better.

The kitchen. Ah, the kitchen. It is gone. Yay! From the tile floor, to the wood cabinets, to the wood trim. All that remains the same is the refrigerator.

This bedroom was orange with red trim, with a mural on one wall. It is now blue with white trim. Looks much better!

This is after Matthew tore out the carpet, but before we took down the shelves and painted the room yellow. It is now Anna's room.

Another shot of the pool :)

An after picture of the family room. It is more finished now.

An in between picture of the kitchen. Also more finished now.

It's funny. I never pictured myself as the type that would like a whole-home improvement project, but I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Yes, I am tired of painting. And yes, I would just like it to be done, but I find I can do more than I thought I could. And I love watching a room emerge. That being said, I don't ever, EVER, want to move again. At least not for a long time :)

Yay! I'm so glad you posted picts! It is amazing the amount of stuff you have done. Man, it makes me tired just hearing about all you have done/have yet to do. Brings back painful memories. JK :) I can't wait to see all the after picts! And I wish that we could just come see it in person! One of these days... Miss you terribly!

Wow! Impressive!
We'll have to get pointers from you when (not if) we decide to remodel our kitchen.

Can't wait to see it all done.

Wow! You guys have been working hard! As I was reading this post, I was totally imagining your voice in my head as I was reading the words. I miss it! Glad to see you all are settling in. We might just have to come test out that pool when you open it up next year... :)

Suzanne!!!!

You are my hero! Tons of work and all in the midst of just trying to figure out stuff for the kids and school, social, etc. You have been amazing in this process. I love seeing the photos and it makes me want to jump on that bandwagon and get some up too! I feel like it needs to be clean and decent first but oh well, who needs that anyhow!? I miss you tons. I think about you guys and can't wait to lure you out here to see not only Jill, but me and also Laura now! :))) Love you!
