My dad is sick. He's got pneumonia, and they're worried about his heart, on top of lots of other health issues including a new hip and a broken femur. He is in the ICU in a hospital in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto. I hate to think about him lying there with tubes going in and coming out of him. I know he hates it even more. He has always had a hard time sitting still for very long.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. We plan to visit after Christmas, but I wish I could be there for him now. To hold his hand and tell him to keep fighting to get better. He is a fighter. He's scrappy, always has been.
I'm not sure what else to say without sounding trite. I am a daddy's girl. I have always loved him, warts and all. He is a thoughtful, loving, giving father, who has always, always put his family first.
I am praying hard that he'll start climbing out of this downward spiral.

I'm so sorry! I'll be praying as well. :)
Aw! My poor uncle Ted! I'll be praying for him too!!!
Our prayers will be with him as well. It's so hard being far away when someone you love is sick. Sending hugs your way!
So sorry Sue. If you inherited any of your determination and strength from him, he's going to do just fine! We will keep him (and you all) in our prayers.
I'm sorry to hear this. It's hard to totally get into the "holiday spirit" when someone you love so much is not doing so well. I'll keep him in our prayers.
Wow, Suzanne, that is rough. I am so sorry to hear that. We're too young to deal with these aging parent issues. I hope and pray he recovers quickly!
Oh no. It's really heart-breaking to be so far away from your loved ones when they are sick. Our thoughts and prayers are with your dad for a speedy recovery.
Thanks everyone. Thankfully they took his breathing tube out today and things seem to be looking up. I can't wait to see him!
