What A Difference A Day Makes...

Yesterday this was going on in our backyard....

It wasn't balmy, but it was nice enough for the kids to splash around a little before they ran around the yard to warm up. 

Then this morning we woke up to this...

Yes, that's a little bit of snow on our deck. I'm hoping it will kill whatever bugs have been flying around our yard. (that would be looking on the bright side)

Isaac had a poetry slam at his school. He read a couple of poems and played his saxophone -- "Faith" by Joshua Redman, it's a great song. I wish I had a video of him reading his poems, he was so expressive, and quite the little showman.

We went to New York rather spontaneously for Easter. Some friends of ours from New Hampshire were going, and as we described where they should go and what they should do we realized how much we missed the city and our friends there! So off we went. I didn't get any pictures of the day we went into Manhattan, but I did get some shots of the Easter egg hunt we had out on Long Island the next day. Thanks to the Harts and Rich's for welcoming us on such short notice!

The last photo is a shot my friend Minna was trying to set up with all of the kids. Here is her final version. 

Finally... I would like to be a gardener. I really would. But I have NO idea what I'm doing. Case in point: 

This is what the plants look like that are coming up in front of our house. I can't tell what's a weed and what's the start of a pretty, flowering plant. Last year I almost pulled out some bleeding hearts until my friend stopped me. I guess I'll have to wait this year to see what this turns into, and maybe next year I'll know what to pull out. That is, unless the weeds kill all the flowers before then!
