Blast from the past

Births are such momentous occasions and having Anna has me reminiscing about past experiences...
The most memorable has to be Thomas and the bathroom, but Isaac's birth was also an event. I found this picture the other day of me in the hospital about to deliver Isaac and it made me smile. Matthew was away in Florida for Air Force training and barely made it home in time for the birth. That he could be there at all was a blessing. In his absence, I had some amazing friends who rallied around me. Here they are cheering me up. You can tell I'm not having contractions yet...

I am laughing hysterically right now! We all look like kids! Chad and I still remember that we had our first fight when you called and told me that your water broke (and that you were going to drive down the canyon from Heber to Provo BY YOURSELF). Chad was at work and I wanted him home immediately. He thought he had time because you had to drive for a while, but I was in such a panic that I wanted him home right away. I think we'd been married about 11 days? What great memories. Thanks for sharing the picture.

I can't believe you had so many people in the hospital with you - but I guess it takes that many to make up for Matthew's absence!

I remember that day so well! We all felt so lucky to fill in for a while. I remember calling Matthew's colonel (or whatever his rank was) to ask if he could get Matthew home. I'm so glad he made it. Thanks for reminding me of our younger days.
